Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid match Preview

It’s another weekend in the Spanish la liga, and all the top 4 teams are within a close proximity of points. Any team can be at the top of the table after the matches this weekend depending on how things pans out. Sevilla and Atletico Madrid won't be an exception.

With both teams having a disappointing midweek fixture which ended in a draw, they would be looking to get ahead of each other in the table. This weekend  And it all boils down to Saturday’s game.

Atletico Madrid has managed just two wins in their last 5 games, the rest ending in a draw. Definitely  not what a coach of Simeone caliber would be expecting, but they have the chance to amend tomorrow, as they face rivals. Sevilla.
Sevilla on the other hand has won 3 of their previous 5 games in all competition, losing once and managing a draw in the rest. Its match day 12 and the league is still very much open for anyone.

Previous meetings

Atletico Madrid has failed to beat Sevilla in their last 4 meetings in all competition.  Their last two league meetings ended in a draw, while Sevilla were triumphant in their copa del rey encounter last season. Beating them 2-1 away, and 3-1 at home.

Its soon becoming a narrative, that Sevilla is the team to upset Atletico any time, that makes today’s game even more crucial for them, cause its not just about the points, but also about bragging rights.

Team news

Sevilla

Apart from Daniel Carrico who has been off since oct 17, all other players are available for the Los Palanganas team. No injury worries, they welcome Atletico with confidence that their best is available.

Atletico Madrid

The los colchoneros on the other hand have quite a lot to worry about. The sensational teenager Joa Felix still remains in the side line alongside Stefan jovic, jose gimenez and sime vrsaljko.
The likes of koke, Thomas partey and Morata are all back to the squad. And it wouldn’t be surprinsg to see some of them on the bench.

Players to watch

Alvaro morata

He’s been on a crazy form lately, scoring in each of their last 3 games. His eyes would be set to extend the tally to 4 in 4 games today. With Griezmann leaving in the summer, expectations are on him to step up, and he hasn’t really been disappointing. But this evening as they face Sevilla, we hope to see the best of him.

Lucas Ocampus

He’s been on the score sheet 4 times this season for the Los Palanganas, despite being a midfielder he has also bagged man of the match award twice this season. Atletico Madrid defenders should be weary of his pace and dribble prowess. Facing the post with the ball, hes already a treat and the young lad wouldn’t mind Sevilla being top at the end of today.

Jan Oblak

7 clean sheets in 10, one of the most underrated goal keepers in the world. But his quality still speaks for him. Conceding just 6 in 11 games. He’s a nightmare for opposition strikers. Chicharito and his guys would have to devise a means to get past him.

I might not be able to predict who’s going to win, but with a place up the table for grasp, am pretty sure it would be a Harvest of goals today. But certainly not like the 5-5 Arsenal and Liverpool played during the week.
