As various leagues across Europe are rounding up and some teams have accepted their fate of playing in the Europa league next season, some are trying to smuggle themselves into the champions league, and one of the ways to do that is to win the Europa League.  8 teams are currently battling it out to be the second best in Europe and win Europe's second elite competition.

It was an interesting first leg played out on Thursday  night as the quest to be in the last 4 began. Benfica would be traveling comfortably to Frankfurt next week Thursday after defeating them 4-2 at home. It was all about Joao Felix as the teenager netted a hat trick to becoming the youngest player to score an Europa league hat-trick. They need to be careful though, with 2 away goals for Frankfurt all they need would be a 2-0 win and with determination and the right team spirit.it wouldn’t be hard for Frankfurt.

Elsewhere Arsenal made a good head start at the Emirates as they beat Napoli 2-0. The away leg would prove to be the true test of character for Arsenal. They’ve had it hard away from home this season in general and they have lost their both away fixtures in the knockout stage of this competition. The Gunners would have to hold on and stand as a team cause its now or never for them. Its not over for Napoli, if they can loose 2-0 away from home, they can also win 3-0 at home. With the support of the fans and the right tactics,Carlo Anceloti would work on his boys and being a champions league winner, He knows exactly what to do.

Chelsea left it late as Marcos Alonso grabbed a late winner for them against Slavia Prague. Ahead of their tricky  weekend fixture against Liverpool, Chelsea started players a little less than usual, resting the likes of hazard and Higuain. They returned from Chez Republic with a win, and now prepare for the second leg in London. They shouldn’t relax, but before they think about Prague they would have to deal with Liverpool first.

Lastly, Valencia is posed to be the favorite team to make the last 4 after beating Villarreal 3-1 at their home. Villarreal has been struggling this season, sitting 18th in the league and at the verge of being relegated, they suffered another defeat and The efforts of chukwueze, carzola ,Carlos Bacca couldn’t salvage anything for them. They look like they are on their way out but am not a fan of writing anybody off, especially in the game of football. Girona is next for them, before They  fight with their last strength next week, when they travel to Valencia.
