EPL Matchday 34 Preview; City to Go Top? Top 4 battle wages on..

Its weekend again and after the tension and excitement of the champions league and the Europa league, we’re back to the English Premiere League and this time, its Matchday 34 and the fight is getting intense.  Time, tactics, mistakes and fate has split the league into three distinct groups with different teams occupying each niche. The battle for Gold between Manchester City and Liverpool. Not far away from them, the hustle for the remaining 2 champions league spot between some of the elites of the league: Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham. Lastly, down the bottom, the constant relegation battle, looking for one more team to go down the relegation pit after swallowing two already and 4 teams are trying to avoid relegation; Cardiff, Southampton, Brighton And Burnley.

The citizens are still pushing for the title and if their hardwork pays off they would be the champions for two consecutive seasons. To keep up the chase they would have to overcome Crystal palace on Sunday. Roy Hodgson’s men has been average as of late, winning 3 and loosing 2 in their last 5 games. They sit 12th on the log and with an Europa league spot out of sight and them marked safe potentially from relegation, they would be looking for a better finish high up the table and beating some big teams along the way. That would be enough achievement for them this season. So they have all to fight for today as they take on the citizens at the Etihad stadium. Mendy is back for Man city, but Bernado silver sadly is still out as Mancity looks to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Tuesday.

No doubt this would be the match of the weekend. Both teams have a lot to fight for. One for greater glory, the other for an average finish. Sacrifices must be made. The team spirit and the glorious auora around Anfield is indescribable, after defeating Bayern on Tuesday at the Alianz arena. The pressure of a Champions league game coming up won’t be felt that much compared to man city. So all their attention would be fixed on Chelsea who have it all to play for should they fancy a chance of making the top 4. Anfield has been a fortress for Liverpool, and chelsea would have to break this fortress and go against the  odds to avoid a slip up .No major injury problem confronts Chelsea ahead of the game and Marcos Alonso coming back and scoring on Thursday, would be a big boost for the Blues. Its now a matter of consistency for the Reds and any slip up now could be costly. So they would play with all seriousness to win their first premiere league title since its inception in 1992.

After the disappointment on Monday against Everton. Arsenal now has a chance to correct their wrongs and make their stand known as they pay Watford a visit at vicarage Road. Arsenal would do without Sokratis who is out currently on suspension, after getting booked for the 10th time this season. Graint Xhaka is also a doubt for the trip as he faces a late fitness test ahead of the game. On a good note, Lucas Torreira is back for them after being shown a red aginst Tottenham. The team is set to deliver and seek a place in the top 4 after 2 years of being absent from their favorite spot.

We wrap up our preview with already relegated Huddersfield taking on Tottenham, nothing to loose for them so give all the three points to Tottenham one might say. But let’s not forget too easily when an already relegated Newcastle united trashed Tottenham 4-0 on the final day to prevent them, from finishing 4th and above Arsenal. Could this happen again? We never can tell, but with a very important fixture coming up on Wednesday for them against man city player rotation is paramount. Harry kane is  already out injured, Pochettino wouldn’t risk getting another of his best players on his injury list. But whatever is left after the squad shuffling should be enough to beat huddersfield.

Matchday 34, 4 more weeks to go and we would see who’s the new king of England, and those that would represent them in Europe next season, as  England seeks to rule Europe once more since 2008.
